Signs Your Elite Access Control Installation Is Failing

• The gate won’t respond to a remote or code that worked last week. Nine times out of ten this is the receiver board inside the operator starting to go, and the giveaway is that it’s intermittent for a few weeks before it quits entirely. Heat inside the cabinet in a Texas summer speeds this failure up more than anything else.
• The keypad lights up but won’t accept any codes. That’s usually a dead memory chip on the keypad board itself, and it means the keypad is reading the presses but can’t compare them to anything. It’s a part swap, not a reprogramming trick.
• The gate opens on its own or after you’ve already driven through. That delayed or phantom open is a relay sticking on the access control board, and it’s a security problem, not just an annoyance. We tell people to kill power to the operator at the breaker until we can get the board swapped.
• You hear a click at the operator but the gate doesn’t move. The access control part is doing its job, which means the failure is downstream in the operator’s motor or capacitor. We’ll test the board on-site before selling you a part, because swapping a good access control board won’t fix an operator that’s not receiving the command.
• The entry pedestal looks like a bird or wasp condo.
