Mighty Mule Gate Motor & Opener in Grand Prairie: What to Know First

We repair and install Mighty Mule gate motors and openers throughout Grand Prairie, and most jobs are done same week. An independent Mighty Mule service provider, we work on the full line: the FM series swing arms, the MM series heavy-duty openers, the RBO series, and the older chain-drive units still hanging on all over Dalworth Park and Country Club Estates. The honest price posture is this: we give you the number before we turn a wrench, and it doesn’t change at the door. If your Mighty Mule quit working, is beeping, or opens partway and stops, call (903) 829-4499 and tell us what it’s doing.

How Mighty Mule Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • MM272 and MM372 arm assemblies seize at the clevis pin. In Grand Prairie’s clay-heavy soil, gate posts shift seasonally, and the arm binds. We don’t replace the arm. We ream the clevis, replace the pin with the correct hardened pin, and shim the bracket so the arm travels straight.
  • FM500 and FM502 control boards fry after storms. North Texas lightning finds its way through the low-voltage wiring. The factory board is a single point of failure. We install a surge inhibitor at the board and on the incoming power side, then test the transformer before we condemn the board, which saves you money when the board’s fine and the transformer isn’t.
  • RBO series solar panels undershoot their charge on short winter days. A lot of folks in Grand Prairie run their Mighty Mule on solar, and come January the opener starts moving slow, then stops. We test the panel output and battery health separately, because the fix is often a larger panel or a battery replacement, not a new opener.
  • Chain-drive units jump the sprocket when the chain stretches. The old chain-drive Mighty Mules lose tension over time, especially on long driveways off Carrier Parkway and along I-20 feeder roads where gates cycle dozens of times a day. We tension and align, then replace the chain only if it’s actually worn, not as a blanket upsell.
  • Safety sensor false trips on the FM series. The photo eye gets dirty or the bracket twists, and your gate stops mid-travel and reverses for no reason you can see. We clean, realign, and if the eye is still tired we swap the sensor itself and keep the OEM board, which is the expensive part you don’t need to replace.

Our Mighty Mule Gate Motor & Opener Process

Here’s what a Mighty Mule call looks like with us, start to finish.

  1. 1
Call and conversation. A live person answers at (903) 829-4499. You tell us what the gate’s doing, Hal asks a few questions, and we set a window we actually keep.
  2. 2
On-site diagnostics. We test voltage at the board, load-test the battery or transformer, and watch the full open-close cycle. We find the real problem before quoting anything.
  3. 3
Parts decision made with you. We tell you the OEM part price and, where a quality aftermarket part does the job better for less, we say that too. It’s your call and we write the quote before any work starts.
  4. 4
The repair, done in the driveway. We weld on site when it’s needed, replace motors and boards on the spot, and don’t haul your gate to a shop fifty miles away.
  5. 5
Cycle test and adjustments. We run the gate ten full cycles, set force limits and travel stops, and listen for anything that’s not right.
  6. 6
Written 90-Day Done Right Promise. Every job leaves with the promise stamped in writing. If it acts up within 90 days, one call brings us back.

What Mighty Mule Gate Motor & Opener Costs in Grand Prairie

Job Typical Range
Service call and diagnostic (applied to repair) $0 trip charge in-county
MM272 / MM372 arm replacement $220-$390
FM500 / FM502 control board replacement $310-$520
Full operator swap (parts and labor) $650-$1,200
Safety sensor pair, installed $140-$240
Battery replacement, tested and warranted $90-$210

Price moves most on two things: whether the existing mounting geometry is reusable, and whether your gate itself is heavy or out of balance. Mighty Mule openers are rated for specific gate weights and lengths, and a gate that’s over spec burns motors faster. We check that before quoting a replacement. We quote every job before work starts, and that’s the price you pay. Call (903) 829-4499 for a free estimate.

We service nine major brands, so when a homeowner tells us the Mighty Mule died and they’re thinking of switching, we can give a straight answer about whether to stay with Mighty Mule or move to a LiftMaster, Ghost Controls, or DoorKing unit, because we work on all of them every week. Every job is background-checked crew, up-front pricing, and the 90-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If it’s not done right, we make it right, no fine print.
